Why Pie?

Well that’s easy. Easy as pie. Why? Because I like pie. They are tasty, easy to carry, and photograph well. And now I can start collecting pretty pie plates and cute aprons.

I love to bake. I like to make lists. I am always up for a challenge. I realized that I had never baked any pie other than my beloved grits pie (more on this deliciousness later!) and decided that I would start baking pies. Then I couldn’t decide what kind of pie I wanted to bake. There are so many pies! Fruit pies, cream pies, refrigerator and freezer pies. Single crust, double crust, cracker and cookie crust. How do I decide?

Since I am currently working on a 365 self-portrait photo project, I thought it would be fun to do a similar project with pies. A pie a week for a year. Now I am committed to baking 52 different pies. And not one of them will contain coconut. I know, I know, but my official pie taster detests coconut. This is what I do for love.

Easy as pie, right? Um, nope. Pies are not always easy to make. They are fun to eat, though. Mmm…. Pie.
